One of the recent additions to Core Collective’s suite of wellness services is Infrared Sauna at Core Collective - Singapore’s first dedicated private infrared sauna studio.
If you’ve been in traditional saunas that use convection heaters or wood-fire in order to heat its air, but aren’t too fond of the sweltering high temperatures of 80ºC to 100ºC you have to sit through in order to reap its myriad of health benefits, Pure Wellness Studios have just the fix for you. Their infrared saunas offer an alternative solution that presents all the benefits of traditional saunas, and more - without the blistering heat!
What is an Infrared Sauna?
Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas use infrared light to produce radiant heat that penetrates the muscles, skin, joints, and tissues and heat the body’s core temperature.
With lower humidity levels and a more comfortable temperature of no more than 68 degrees Celsius, infrared saunas provide the body with a safe sanctuary to sweat easier for longer periods of time, and detox from the inside out.
Infrared Sauna at Core Collective offers 3 different infrared sauna cabins for you to choose from - each supporting different needs and comfort levels. Find out more below.
About Infrared Wavelengths
Infrared light has the ability to gently and comfortably penetrate human tissue to promote a host of health benefits. There is a range of Infrared wavelengths, namely Near, Mid and Far - each providing its own special benefits:
More About the Benefits of Infrared Saunas
Detoxification
Sweat from traditional saunas contains 95 to 97% water, with salt making up most of the remainder. Infrared saunas are one of the most natural ways to promote heavy metal detox from the body.
Heavy metal toxicity from the excess of heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, and mercury is known to be able to affect the function of organs in the body, reduce energy levels, and cause symptoms seen in degenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
Sweating in the pod helps you remove the excess heavy metals from your skin, kidneys, and liver.
Weight Loss
When you sweat, your body works to cool itself down. In effect, this increases your heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rate and promotes weight loss. The sweat-inducing effects of sitting in an infrared sauna help you burn up to 600 calories in just 45-minutes!
Relaxation and Stress Reduction
Stress is an unavoidable part of life, however, the continued strain on your body from it over a long period of time can be detrimental to your health - disturbing the immune, digestive, cardiovascular and reproductive system, and even contributing to health problems, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and other illnesses, including mental health disorders like anxiety or depression.
Infrared therapy helps to alleviate stress by balancing your levels of cortisol (the body’s primary stress hormone) to promote relaxation and relieve tension throughout the body.
Skin Rejuvenation
In addition to eliminating toxins in the body and promoting weight loss, time spent sweating in the sauna also helps to expel dirt, debris, and other toxins from your skin. This detoxification of pores means you can regain your natural glow again and experience fewer breakouts. Plus, as infrared therapy increases collagen production in your skin, unwinding in the pod will also contribute to reduced wrinkles and younger-looking skin.
Muscle Recovery & Pain Relief
Equally as important to exercise and training is the recovery process to allow the body to heal tissue damage and rebuild muscles. Infrared light penetrates further into the joints, muscles, and tissues, increasing circulation and blood flow. Good circulation is critical for proper healing. Red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients to the site of strain or inflammation, which helps to create new blood vessels and tissues; the more red and white blood cells that can get delivered to muscles, the quicker they’re able to rebuild.
Infrared therapy also acts as a form of natural pain relief as the heat emitted reduces inflammation and swelling in both the joints and muscles. Thermal therapy has been used for centuries as a form of pain relief and clinical studies have been done to show its effectiveness in doing so. For example, a study done on patients with Fibromyalgia syndrome (a chronic syndrome characterised by widespread pain and tenderness in specific areas), found that all patients placed in a far infrared dry sauna experienced a significant reduction in pain after just one single session!
