While initially sceptical and slightly scared of chiropractic treatments, this was totally changed when I was given the opportunity to experience a chiropractic adjustment session with a chiropractor at Core Collective.
Chiropractic treatment, which is also referred to as chiropractic adjustments, is a procedure involving the use of the hands or small instruments to apply controlled force to a spinal joint. This procedure helps to realign the vertebrae in the spinal column, which can help to improve spinal motion and physical function of the body without going through the hassle and stress of more invasive procedures.
The idea was that the proper alignment of the musculoskeletal structure, starting with the spine, can allow the body to heal itself without the need for surgery. Chiropractic treatment is often used as an alternative for treating issues with muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue, such as cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. It is also sometimes used together with conventional medical treatment.
In one session, I’ve come to understand so much more about how chiropractic treatments can be beneficial for my body and how a chiropractor determines where to “crack”, in order to provide the necessary manual adjustments and manipulations for treatment.
What did my chiropractic adjustment session consist of?
My chiropractor first took my medical history and performed a thorough physical examination of my body in order to determine if treatment is appropriate for my back pain. After the assessment and gaining a better understanding of the nature of my lower back pain, a treatment plan involving a number of manual adjustments to help my lower back was devised.
How did the chiropractic adjustment session help me?
The adjustment session with my chiropractor turned out to be extremely relaxing (thanks to his calm and cool attitude!) and incredibly helpful with the constant lower back pains that I have suffered over the years. These are some of the health benefits I experienced have through my chiropractic treatment:
1. Feel less pain and experience less inflammation
The adjustments worked wonders in alleviating my lower back pain and joint pain. The session helped with the inflammation in my lower back, which is one of the top reasons for the development of muscle tension, joint issues, and pain. I could immediately feel less tension in my back.
2. Improved joint mobility and function during training
As an active gym-goer, training sessions were a chore with mobility issues in the hip and back. The session also helped improve the mobility of my lower back and hip joints, allowing me to do a deep squat without pain for the first time in a long time.
3. Enjoy higher levels of energy, vitality and improved quality of sleep
The reduced pain and better mobility also allowed me to remain energetic for longer periods without feeling the pain and tension weighing me down. It also allowed my body to feel more relaxed and even improved my sleep (no more back discomfort!).
This experience has led me to believe without a doubt that chiropractic adjustment is an effective treatment, with plenty of health benefits. While it might seem intimidating at first glance, I am glad I gave this a try.
